The place is absolutely wonderful. Danny and Family (Owners) are very knowlegible of the area and extremely helpful. Danny kept us on interesting waterful hikes, scenic roads, hiking trails and were to visit. The place was a hub to many day trips and we didn't have enough time to see everything so we will be back and want to tell everyone about our stay.

My adorable bride and I have recently returned from 4 nites at the Flaming Arrow and I'm pleased to report that it's everything we had expected and more. We'd never been to the Cherokee area before and wanted to find a spot that was reasonably priced with amenties (30 amp, water, sewer) for our new-to -us camper. Flaming Arrow easily met those basic requirements. We pulled into the campground and followed the arrows to the office where we were met by the owner. She checked us in, then drove us around to see the available sites. That was a nice touch we thought because we'd made a selection sight unseen. She showed us 3 other sites, we picked one and set up. Our site - B17 - was just lovely. Yes, it was up a hill but it is the mountains after all and was no real problem for us (we hike quite a bit). There was plenty of room to park and the site was spacious and private. We like that a lot. In our travels, we did see other campgrounds in the area and found them to be jam-packed. You could pass toast and jam between the RV's through the windows it was so tight. That's not the way we like to camp and thus began to feel even better about our choice. Joni and Ralph could not have been nicer. They gave us directions to places we wanted to go (Kenny Loggins concert at the Casino), and also turned us on to prime trout fishing spots on the reservation. The bathrooms were very clean, they post up the local paper and a lot of local events on a bulletin board, they have washer/dryer facilities and lots of places for kids to burn off a little steam. We didn't use the pool but it looked eminently useable too. If you're a "camping hooligan" you probably don't want to stay here because the owners do take pride in their place and try too keep things orderly and peaceful. We respect that and in fact, prefer it so for the rest of you normal people, get your reservations and get campin'. You'll be glad you did. And BTW, use Joni's directions to the campground. They'll save you a lot of time.

I wanted to say that we were very happy with Living Waters Campground in NC. They are very friendly and wanted to make sure that you had a great stay. It is small and has 29 lots, trout ponds, and a small lake for you to play on the paddle boat .Prices were very good. I do plan on staying with them again. I would recommend this campground

Great place to stay. Its away from the beach, so you will have to travel. We used a primative tent site, next to the road. I would advise booking early so that you can get away from the road and the noise, that is unless you don't mind it. Fire ants were an issue. However, they are everywhere. I would take some ant killer with me as to deter them from your site.

Quiet, clean, level sites. Many permanent campers and nor frills, but for the price you can't beat it. We wanted a place to stay the night to attend "Hot Nights Hot Cars" car show in Pilot Mountain, NC. We stayed an extra night because we liked it so much.

Pleasant and quiet visit ~ My family and I stayed three nights in one of the rustic cabins. It was simple and clean. The bathroom rooms were cleaner than most of the campgrounds we had been to on our trip. The staff was very friendly and helpful. If we pass through again, I would be happy to stay again.
River Creek Campground

Campground is broken into two distinct areas; large, RV and fifth-wheel sites up on the hill and individual tent and small pop-up sites below. The riverfront sites all featured 20 and 30-foot long covered canopies, which were great when the weather turned wet. We had heavy rain on the first night and they released water from the dam upstream, offering us a great view of the rushing river. Docks at each campsite took you out over the river. All tent sites had electricity and water, some 30amp and some simply 120. Brown trout and carp were visible from the riverbank, but very elusive to fishing. The bathhouses were located up by the main officer and were all very clean, but only had three showers and four toilets per side - a little busy in the mornings, so we had to take shower times into account. The campground is pet-friendly with a pet exercise area, motorcycle ramp for taking your bike on and off your truck/trailer, playground for the kiddies, arcade with video games, pool tables and access to nearby hiking trails and grocery stores. The campground shop featured ice cream, a smattering of groceries, camp fuel, propane refills, $8 wheelbarrow loads of firewood and very weak coffee. The couple running the campground was very, very friendly and offered great suggestions for food and activities. You're less than five minutes from Lake Lure and the constant drone of traffic at the other campsites - Chimney Rock is just a little bit past Lake Lure. Buy your tickets at the campground store for a discount. If you're looking for an off-the-main-drag campground next to the river, this is a recommended site for tent and small pop-up campers. The big rig RV sites looked very close together, with no buffering between the sites - all sites appeared to feature water, sewer, TV cable, 30amp. Most of the sites appear to be long-term, with large 5th wheelers and trailer occupying the nicely covered, garage-like sites on the upper portion of the campground.

I am currently staying in one of Fort Wilderness' rental travel trailers and they are falling apart... The roof leaks causing the ceiling inside to sag badly, they are poorly insulated so on cold nights with two 1500watt heaters wide open the temp never got above 66 degrees, the plumbing leaks and also freezes on cold nights, the breaker is constantly tripping 2 or 3 times a day, the trailer that I stay in was nasty when I moved in it and I had to clean it myself, the free WiFi always has problems with logging on and staying online, the RV park owner is always cranky and cantankerous with a bad attitude. But on a positive note the Manager, her husband, their children and the assistant manager are all very pleasant nice and very respectful. The rent is also pretty reasonable for this area. And it is a good location to see the beautiful countryside. Not a very accomadating place, but I'll stay for a bit longer because its affordable.
