The Pacific Crest Trail is a 2,650-mile national scenic trail that runs from Mexico to Canada through California, Oregon and Washington, along the spine of the Cascade and the Sierra Nevada mountain ranges. In California, the trail passes through several major national forests and sinks to its lowest point, in the Mojave desert. Many of the areas along the trail are wilderness areas, closed to mechanized traffic and without developed facilities. Other parts of the trail have more diverse opportunities. |
