| After reading some of these reviews, it's difficult to know where these people stayed (it doesn't sound like Desert Trails), or what the reviewers were looking for. My wife and I have camped and RV'd throughout much of this country, so we have some perspective. If you are looking for concrete pads with manicured lawns and a fancy pool, move on. But if you are searching for that “home away from home,” which means so much to Snowbirds, Full-Timers, or many adult travelers like us, then Desert Trails may be the special place that we and so many others have been fortunate to discover.
We are both 65+, and our kids are adults. We are from the Northeast, and we've been searching for five years for a place to call home during the winter months. We have traveled from Florida, across all the southern states, to the Southwest. No luck---until we happened on Tucson and Desert Trails, totally by chance. We planned to stay at Desert Trails for week or so, and we've been here for three months. We are now excited about returning next winter, and likely many winters to come. Most of the folks here feel exactly the same way.
Desert Trails is a place where you matter. This is a family. The people here don't isolate themselves; there is a sense of camaraderie and friendship that we have not seen in any other park, public or private. All of this is the result of the extraordinary owners, Pericles and his daughter Andrea. Amazingly, they know the name of every person in the park, even if you've been here only a couple of hours. And no matter where Pericles encounters you in the park, he'll greet you by name. Astonishing, until you just get used to being a real person in an RV park.
Finally, there is so much going on here, it makes your head swim. We just had the enormous pleasure of listening to a concert by the Ellington Band from the Tucson Jazz Institute—brought to Desert Trails by Pericles and Andrea. They will be touring and competing in Europe this summer at the pinnacle of international competition. And this was just one of the dozens of monthly events and activities planned by people who care about the folks who choose to call Desert Trails home—for a night, a month, or for 5, 8, 10 or more winters. (We met one couple here for their fourteenth season.)
So, if you are looking for a park with fancy, high-end amenities (along with the high cost), skip Desert Trails. But if you are looking for a special place, where people are far more important to the owners than making a buck, then give it a try. You may decide to stay for a long time-----and return again and again. |

| Here it is 2010 and we are back to Cactus Country for an extra month this year.
We found this park to be best suited to our ways as it is not large, you can be as involved in the "community life" as you choose and the staff and guests are always to friendly.
Being new "Snowbirds" we are learning many of the do and dont's if you come to a resort..... |

| Actually Feb 2011. Okay park, mostly park models but does have separate area for Rv'ers. Very restrictive pet rules, i.e you can't walk your dog between the 2 pet areas to visit.
The poorest Wifi we've seen. Free Tengo, glad I awsn't paying for it. |

| Typical park where they are friendly at first but then slowly become complacent. Very bureaucratic and authoratative management. During our month there the spa broke down twice. Not gated and during our month there a couple of bikes were stolen, (according to residents). |
