On Demand Hot Water for your RV

aqua-hot

My motorhome has an Aqua-Hot system in it and this thing is amazing !

On demand hot water means you never run out of hot water (unless you use up your water supply). This unit can be powered with your onboard diesel fuel and also will work on electricity.

The Aqua-Hot on my coach is used to do three things :

Comfort control (furnace), hot water, and engine preheat.

The engine preheat is awsome when you need to fire up your engine in the bitter cold. The procedure will circulate the engine’s cooolant through the engine preheat system to adequately warm the engine for an east start-up. It usually takes just over an hour to get to adequate tempurature. This same feature can be used in “reverse” to allow your engines coolant to pass into the boiler tank of the aqua-hot system. The heat from your engine is then automatically available for comfort control.

Some things to note with an Aqua Hot System:

FUEL

  • Can consume 1/2 gallon of fuel each hour (this is at full capacity heating the engine, comfort control and non-stop hot water. You shouldn’t come close to this kind of fuel consumption.

BOILER ANTIFREEZE

  • Utilizes a Propylene Glycol (P.G.) based water and antifreeze solution. This P.G. based solution is a boiler type of antifreeze which is generally recognized as safe by the FDA.

MAINTENANCE

  • The manufacturer recommends a “tune-up” each year. This includes a new fuel nozze and filter replacement, cleaning of the combustion chamber (if necessary).

WINTER OPERATION

  • The hot water heating system must be completely drained of water any time the heater is stored where freezing tempuratures are present. The remaining systems will be functional (Comfort / Engine preheat)

Overall, I’m very happy with this system and would recommend it highly to all motorhome owners.
